Michel Waisvisz R.I.P.

Just read some sad news on Peter Margasak’s Post No Bills blog. Electronic music pioneer Michel Waisvisz died yesterday at the age of 58. Waisvisz was the inventor of the much beloved crackle box, a wonderfully idiosyncratic handheld, battery-powered synthesizer. He was also the head of the influential STEIM electronic music center in the Netherlands for the past 27 years. You can read a tribute to him from his colleagues at STEIM on the center’s website.
