Schlammpeitziger
Schwingstelle für Rauschabzug (Sonig) CD
Jo Zimmermann, the man with the lovably quirky moniker and music to match, is back with his fifth full-length album. Known for his meandering melodies and loping rhythms, this time around Zimmermann decided to throw some relatively straightforward beats into the pot. But fans of Schlammpeitziger’s foible filled pop (and I count myself in that number) need not fret: his trademark krautrock on crack eccentricities are in full, fine effect. Most of the songs are not quite dance music (although the thumping “Konservatives Einselzimmer” is one possible exception); and yet they are so infernally infectious that it’s almost impossible to keep to your seat.
