Emptyset Interview and Mix
Paul Purgas and James Ginzburg (aka Emptyset) were responsible for one of my favorite albums of 2009. Their eponymous debut on Caravan was stunning blend of dark, finely textured atmospherics and deep bass that was as beautiful as it was brutally dystopic. In this interview on Sonic Router the duo discuss their background, influences, and working methods. Purgas and Ginzburg also contribute a wonderful mix that pulls together music from a variety of different influence from fairly abstract ambient music to dubstep, house, and techno.
